No, you don’t need a referral to make an appointment with an osteopath. However, if you suffer from a chronic medical condition that requires complex care, you may be eligible for up to 5 osteopathic treatments per calender year under the Chronic Disease Management Plan. Please discuss this with your GP, as they will need to sign a special CDM form for you. This form allows the majority of the cost to be covered under Medicare.
Bring along any scans, xrays or test results that you may have.
The osteopath will get you to fill out a form to record your personal details and any information regarding your medical history, including other injuries and illness and any medications you are taking. You will also be asked to sign an informed consent form as an osteopath is required by law to get permission to treat you.
A thorough history will be taken about your current condition and symptoms that you are wanting to recieve treatment for and you will have an opportunity to ask the osteopath any questions you may have.
The osteopath will then conduct an examination which may include orthopaedic and neurological tests, assessments of movements and exercises, to try and determine the cause of your complaint.
You may be asked to remove some clothing, but you will be given a gown or covered with a towel throughout the consultation.
The osteopath will perform appropriate techniques for your condition which may include massage, mobilisation, manipulation, muscle energy technique and stretches to the area. We are wholistic therapists, so we may treat other associated areas of the body that may be creating other problems somewhere else.
You may be given some stretches or exercises to do at home.
All consultations go for about 45 minutes.
Appointment times and fees (effective as of the 1st March 2023)
Initial appointment - 45 mins $120

EFTPOS facilities are available.
If you have extras on your health insurance, you should be able to claim for osteopathic treatment. The amount that the health fund pays depends on your level of cover and which fund you are with.
The clinic has a HICAPS machine which allows us to swipe your health insurance card and deduct their payment, so that you only have to pay the gap amount for your treatment.
